Project: H.324 Call Manager for MT&RU System

Multimedia Termination and Relay unit is used to play multimedia announcements and tones to the mobile subscribers. This involves interaction of MTRU system with MGW for initiating H.324 Procedures to the mobile terminals.

Project: IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), 3GPP Release-5

The IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) offers operators the opportunity to build an open IP based service infrastructure that will enable an easy deployment of new rich multimedia communication services mixing telecom and data services. Samsung IMS solution is based on 3GPP specifications.

Roles:

·   Study and understand the 3GPP specifications for IMS

·   Design and development of a generic SIP simulator, to test any SIP entity in IMS network.

·   Preparation of detailed design documents using UML

·   Identification of Test Cases and running rigorous tests on simulator

·   Design and Implementation of ‘Music on Hold’ service

Project: Development, Integration and Commercialization of Mc Interface (MSC Server-MGW) and Call Model FSM in MGW for WCDMA

The Media Gateway (MGW) is PSTN/PLMN transport termination point for a defined network and interfaces UTRAN with the core network over Iu Interface.

 MGW may terminate bearer channels from a switched circuit network and media streams from a packet network (e.g., RTP streams in an IP network). Over Iu, the MGW may support media conversion, bearer control and payload processing (e.g. codec, echo canceller, Conference Bridge) for support of different Iu options for CS services (AAL2/ATM based as well as RTP/UDP/IP based).

Samsung's MGW supports AAL2/ATM for both Iu and Nb. This module interacts with Megaco, AAL2 and maintains call state by using well defined Finite State Machine in MGW.

Roles:

·   Defined the software design for the Megaco protocol(Mc Interface) for Samsung's next generation(3G) WCDMA CN

·   Chosen as member of core team in the implementation of Megaco protocol.

·   Implemented both binary format and text format of Megaco Protocol.

·   Designed and Implemented interfaces between the Megaco Protocol and Trillium's MTP3B stack

·   Participated in integration of Megaco Protocol for Samsung's WCDMA CN during the launch of first voice call

·   Participated in debugging efforts, to support SK Telecom's Inter-Operability Tests(IOT) during the Bench Mark Test(BMT) held in 2003 at South Korea

·   Resolved some complicated bugs and memory leaks, which are related to C++ templates

·   Participated in Commercialization effort of Samsung's WCDMA CN for SK Telecom

·   Defined some new (proprietary) H.248 packages like Resource Information Package, Voice Quality Package etc., during the Commercialization phase.

·   Defined the software design for the Call Model FSM for MGW of Samsung's next generation (3G) WCDMA CN.

·   Designed Generic FSM, which is used for both Iu and Nb Terminations.

·   Designed and Implemented Interfaces between Call Model FSM and AAL2 Protocol Layer.
